Fabio Alves Macdeo, more commonly known simply as Fabinho, is expected by a few news sources in Brazil to depart from the Union soon. The left back will join up with Parana Clube, of Brazil’s Serie B (the second division).
Terms of the transfer were not discussed, but Fabinho most likely would move on a free transfer.
The former under-20 Brazilian national teamer was acquired by the Union in late June after undergoing a successful trial period with Philadelphia. He had been available as a free transfer after his mutual release from Sydney FC of Australia’s A-League.
Initially utilized as a left back, Fabinho was eventually moved into a more forward role with the Union, transforming from a disappointing left back into a sometimes solid left midfielder.
With the loss of Fabinho also comes the removal of any left back depth on the Union. Former second rounder Don Anding was waived in December of 2013 and Raymon Gaddis has remained as the only player on Philadelphia with any notable left back experience.
